growth is not always linear (or Fast)

I cannot believe its been a year. I feel sad it’s taken me so long to get back to writing. I love writing and sharing. Especially about skin. I’ve had item on my To Do list to add an article about Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) for quite some time. It keeps getting pushed. It’s getting pushed again. I’m a woman who loves to add DETAILS. I want you to read and know. If I’m going to get technical, I’m going to go deep. And I’m not in a deep kind of mood. I’ll keep this one brief.

A few updates and a bit more about what I’ve been building.

For those of you who have been with me for a bit, you know that I’m not a run-of-the-mill esthetician. As one of my clients said to me the other day. “Wow, when my friend told me you know you’re stuff, they were not kidding.” If you book an appointment in the Sanctuary, you’ll receive an email afterwards, typically with a host of information about the samples I sent you home with, whatever research I promised to do about your unique skin concerns, and the next steps I recommend. These emails sometimes take me 30 minutes to write and a few days to get them to you. They are not fast but they are thorough, and I hope my current clients will tell you it’s worth the wait.

In December of 2023, I moved from the Studio in Kirkland to the Sanctuary in Issaquah, a move that helped me free up more space for clients and double the size of my room. If you haven’t visited the space, you’ll be greeted with 10.5 foot ceilings with original ceiling-high windows showcasing beautiful natural light in a 100+ year old building with some lovely charm in Olde Town. From its original ugly leaf print ceilings and sage green walls, through a remodel with Intellectual Gray and Shoji White upgrades and some fun finishing touches. I keep adding new things as I find them. I’ve never remodeled a space from scratch before, or built out a spa room from a shell, so that was quite the fun experience. Thank goodness for my brother in NH who runs a design, build architecture firm, and my sister in Colorado who’s an interior design natural and the technology that connects us.

Along with the new space, I brought in some new and amazing tools that I have been LOVING in the treatment room. From Traditional Chinese Medicine brand, Yina,(in addition to LILFOX and Beekman 1802), to the amazing FDA approved one-of-a kind LYMA Laser- a cold 808 diode laser (think no-down-time) with amazing results to my new Bio Therapeutic Nano Needling Pen (The Titan Model AE) AND still-in-its-box Microcurrent. These are all tools that are transformative WHILE also keeping your epidermis intact to enhance your skin without breaking it first. (Because I came from a med spa where the goal was to destroy and then rebuild and it turns out, in the end, I wasn’t a fan).

So now it’s been a year since I was here last, writing in this blog. A year where I went through an additional five courses in understanding skin and improving my skills as a technician. Upgrading my space, my tools, my wisdom and knowledge. Earning a scholarship from Milady. Building out a new space and celebrating my one-year of business in February 2024. I’ve got two more courses to finish and a millions plans for ways to grow and offer new options for you to come and see me. I guess you could say I’ve spent this year investing in new ways to wow you. I hope you’ll give me a chance to try.

Yours in skin health and deep gratitude,

Lani Webb, LME
